Rosneft CEO not to participate in hearings of case vs ex-min

XIAMEN, China, Sep 4 (PRIME) -- CEO of Russian oil major Rosneft Igor Sechin has not summoned to court hearings of a U.S. $2 million bribery case against former Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, he told reporters on the sidelines of a BRICS summit on Monday.

“I have not received the summons and I have no plans to (participate in court hearings),” Sechin said.

Ulyukayev can face 15 years in prison if his guilt of accepting the bribe from Sechin for a positive assessment of Rosneft’s plans to acquire Bashneft is proved. He was the first government official arrested on suspicions of corruption. Ulyukayev pleaded not guilty in August and said it was a setup organized by Sechin and the Federal Security Service.
